When was writing created?
Writing was not invented or created at a single moment. It developed gradually over a long period of time through a series of incremental steps and advancements in different ancient civilizations. The history of writing can be traced back to the emergence of proto-writing systems, such as those used by the Sumerians in ancient Mesopotamia around 3500-3200 BCE, and the Ancient Egyptians with the development of hieroglyphs around 3200 BCE. It is important to note that these early writing systems were initially pictographic or ideographic, meaning they used symbols or pictures to represent objects or ideas. The development of alphabetic writing systems, where each character represents a sound or syllable, came later in human history.
