Begin the analysis with a list of questions. What is the topic? Where are the main points? Why is the topic being discussed? Who is the target audience of the topic?
Search the paper for main points to be separated from each other. Once the points are discovered, analyze each point for clarity and depth of research. A qualitative research paper is dependent upon the depth of its research. Does the research go beyond basic facts to uncover possible hidden truths or further information?
Discover the conclusion based on the research. Qualitative papers are meant to enlighten readers, therefore, conclusions must be drawn based on the information presented.
Evaluate the paper for counterpoints or opposing ideas. A good thesis is supported by ideas. An excellent thesis is countered by opposing ideas, leaving the reader with solid sources of information and arguments. In qualitative research, this is referred to as triangulation.
