How to Write a Report on Heat Detectors

Heat detectors are devices created and designed to alarm by voice signals when thermal energy exceeds safe levels. They are supposed to alert people if there is a danger of fire, and they are required in public places, especially ones where fire accidents are more likely to happen, such as kitchens.

The object of a report is to systematically define a specific subject or problem, explaining it in as much detail as possible. The report must always provide accurate facts and be concise, clear and properly structured.

Instructions

    • 1

Create a title page. Put your name, the professor's name, the date of submission, the name of the class and the title of your report. Name the report "Heat Detectors."

    • 2

Introduce the topic. Briefly write about the development of heat detectors and/or how commonly they are used in households today. You can also write about the reasons why you wrote the report and your research methods. Present what you will be writing about in the main body of the report.

    • 3

Outline your headings. The main body of your report can be divided by headings and subheadings, which will help you to structure the report clearly. Include headings such as "History of Heat Detectors," "Types of Heat Detectors" and "How Heat Detectors Work." Discuss each topic separately and include subheadings, charts, diagrams and tables where applicable.

    • 4

Introduce your findings. Name different types of heat detectors and write about how they're used and how they work. Explain what you learned in the conclusion of the report. Only present what you already mentioned; new information doesn't belong in the conclusion of the report.

    • 5

Make a contents page. A list of all the headings and subheadings goes behind the title page, but it is the last thing you will make. If you used photographs, tables, figures and appendices, you can make tables of contents for them as well.
