Read the essay question thoroughly. Keep in mind, an essay answer will consist of three components, the introduction, the evidence and the conclusion.
Jot down any thoughts or key words on a note pad after reading the essay question.
Brainstorm, if necessary, to begin writing and formatting the answer. Use the key words in brainstorming. For example, write as many ideas that pertain to the question without stopping to edit.
Identify the main answer to the question, and write a one line summary of the answer for the introduction paragraph. Explain the evidence that supports your summary in the second paragraph and give reasons of why the evidence and your response are valid. Write the conclusion of the response with a tie-in of the previous paragraphs and reread the essay for fluency,comprehension and grammar.
