Describe the speech's title and purpose and describe the speaker and the audience in your introduction.
Judge the effectiveness of the speech's introduction in the second paragraph. Describe the speaker's attempt at engaging the audience. Does the speaker explain his or her reason for the speech? Does the speaker present his or her credentials and establish authority on the subject? Does the speaker give an overview of the speech's body?
Evaluate the body of the speech in light of organization and language in your third paragraph. Do the main ideas in the body support the speech's premise? Describe the type of support given: statistics, expert testimony, anecdotes. Do transitional phrases accurately signal movement to a new idea? Does the language suit the audience?
Assess the effectiveness of the speech's conclusion in your fourth paragraph. Does the closing adequately summarize the main idea in a powerful manner?
Critique the speaker's delivery in the fifth paragraph. Pay particular attention to: the speaker's body language and vocal intonation and articulation. Note the use of visual aids, if any.
Evaluate the speech as performance in the last paragraph. What improvements can the speaker make? Describe the speech's most effective elements.
