    • 1

Develop and distribute a detailed syllabus that outlines every step of the class as it is intended to progress. Organize your syllabus by class date, expectations of students and course activities.

    • 2

Instruct your students on the basic principles of stock trading, including, for example, the different types of orders that can be placed on the market; such as market orders, limit orders, round lot orders and stop orders. Discuss other aspects of the business, such as trends and risk management.

    • 3

Instruct your students on the importance of finding a reliable stock broker. A good broker should execute orders promptly, show interest in your personal objectives, be well informed as to current market conditions, and be able to anticipate your needs. Instruct students to verify the license and accreditation of any broker and/or trading firm that they use. Scam artists prey on vulnerable investors.

    • 4

Emphasize the importance of knowing investments by, for example, reading any relevant literature related the businesses in which an investor invests. Advise students to make contact with the companies to gather information and to network.

    • 5

Teach your students to stay abreast of market conditions by reading financial digests and newspapers, watching financial news reports, and visiting specialized online chat rooms and forums.

    • 6

Make time during each lesson to answer questions and address concerns from your students. This will help them to feel more connected to the class. They will, in turn, gain confidence in their ability to succeed as they become more comfortable with the class. You will strengthen their confidence in you as their instructor if they can trust you enough to state their concerns.

    • 7

Schedule regular exams and assignments, including short and long-term projects. This will help keep your students focused and on-task by providing pressure in a friendly, risk-free environment. Assignments also benefit students by providing them a sense of achievement when completed.
