Villanova University offers a Business Analysis Certificate Program. Three eight-week classes are required. Essentials of Business Analysis and Mastering Business Analysis are required courses. These classes teach subjects that enrich knowledge of Information Technology, its role in business and types of IT projects. Students learn about topics such as Business Process Modeling, Data Flow Diagrams and Quality Risk Analysis. One elective class is also required. Two examples are Project Management for IS/IT Professionals and Essentials of Software Testing. Those who complete the three classes earn a Master Certificate in Business Analysis.
The University of California at Irvine offers business analysis courses that lead to certification for students who complete required and elective classes within five years. Courses teach aspects of business analysis from the elementary to the complex. For example, the Fundamentals of Business Analysis class discusses industry basics such as the business analyst role and types problems they encounter. The Institute is considered as the industry leader for certification in this field and has developed widely recognized industry standards. The IIBA offers two types of certificates: The Certification of Competency in Business Analysis (CCBA) for individuals who are or want to become business analysts; and the Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) which is designed for experienced business analysts who want to demonstrate a high level of expertise in the field.
