Get a library card at Cleveland-Bradley County library if you don't already have one. Let the library staff know that you are hoping to use the Mango system to study English. Ask them if they have special computer terminals set aside for Mango access and if you can log in to Mango from your home computer, if you have one, or from the computer of a friend or family member.
Log in to the library's data base using your library card's identification number, click on the Mango link from the library's index page and set up a profile to help track your progress in studying English. You will have two separate passwords: one for signing on to use Cleveland-Bradley County Public Library and a second one for signing into Mango.
Select English from Mango.com's main page. It will give you the option of studying English from the perspective of someone who speaks Brazilian Portuguese, Cantonese Chinese, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Russian, Spanish or Turkish. If your first language is not among these, consider whether you have knowledge of one of these as a second or third language. You can also study the general English course on Mango. Ask the staff of Cleveland-Bradley County Library for assistance in locating it on their server if you do not easily find it.
Complete your free study of English on Mango. Take as much time as you need. This course should bring you to a beginner's understanding of the English language so that you will be able to enroll in Easy English 1 at Cleveland State Community College, a six-week course which will continue building your grammar and vocabulary skills.
Move on to Easy English 2 at CLSCC, which will take you to a more intermediate level of writing and listening skills. By this time, you will know whether you want to continue to enlarge your career choices to jobs requiring you to interact fully in English.
Consider other language-related courses offered at Cleveland State Community College. Select one or two more, if you can afford it or qualify for financial aid. Their Grammar for ESL course is designed for students who are preparing for college, as is their course in Writing for ESL. Either or both will help you to succeed at using the English Language, whether on the job market or in furthering your education.
