Disconnect the DVR from the power connection to avoid electrocution while fixing the cables.
Connect the plug and play cable to the rear of the DVR. Insert a coaxial cable and fasten it to the radio frequency (RF) output jack. Ensure the cable is fastened to the rear of the security camera. Twist the metal coupler found on the coaxial cable in a clockwise direction to ensure it is fastened. Attach the metal coupler to the threaded jack located on the security camera.
Find the other RF input marked clearly at the back of the video switch box on the connection panel. Fix the pending end of each cable by plugging it into the RF input. Wire the cable carefully by checking the ports in which you have slotted in your cable because the video switch box has multiple jacks that are connected to selector switches which enable you to choose the cameras you want for surveillance.
Take another coaxial cable and connect it from the RF jack output to the RF IN jack on the video switch box. Insert the cable in the RF IN port at the back of the DVR system of your DirecTV. Make sure that your connections are right by checking your user manual for the complete connection. Fasten the cables tightly to the DirecTV system by twisting them until you reach a firm end.
Plug the power cable to the power supply. Confirm that the connections are correct and switch on the DirecTV after. Press the menu button at the front of the video switch box. Select a camera that corresponds to the connection you made to your DVR and video switch box from the list displayed on the menu. Test the working of your connection by recording a sample video.
