Listen as your confirmation teacher explains what she considers to be a faith statement. Some churches have particular pieces that they want you to add, so they don't want you to write one until you know you believe in those pieces. Others have a particular format, such as three lines or a particular way of wording the statement. And some churches let you say anything you'd like about your faith and make it personal.
Write what you feel in your heart about your faith, while considering any specifics that your teacher has asked you to include. Try to be completely open about your faith and the things that you have learned. Don't feel pressured to write something that you don't believe in.
Keep writing on your statement, even after you think you are finished. Faith statements should be fluid, because you should always be growing in what you believe. Keep your statement somewhere safe and close to you, so you can refer to it and change it when you feel like you should.
Share your faith statement with your teacher or other students if you are asked to, and if you feel comfortable doing so.
