When writing your resume, include personal details such as your full official names and your gender. Write your contact information including address, cell phone, home telephone number and email address. Put in your date of birth and nationality if you prefer. It is better to omit information such as your religion, sexual orientation or ethnicity to avoid unnecessary discussion about details unrelated to the job. Include information that will only serve useful to your employer.
Education plays a key role in most resumes. If you do not have a high school diploma but you have post-secondary educational experiences, include those. It is important to include this information to meet the expectations of employers.
If your educational credentials are light, improve your resume by emphasizing your work experiences. Begin with the most recent experiences. Clearly outline your experience stating the company with which you worked, the dates you worked there and your job title. Put down bullet points of three to four sentences about the responsibilities you held in your previous work experiences.
Give prominent attention to achievements throughout your work experiences. List the certifications or awards you received from your previous company. Write down the relevant skills that you acquired at previous companies. Ensure that the best and most outstanding of your qualifications, awards or skills are listed at the top. You can include the achievements that you attained even through your hobbies.
There are activities you may have done on the side to help other employees in your previous workplace or organizations or community services. List these with the most enticing, most influential listed at the beginning. Include any public acknowledgements when citing these organizations. State your position or the role you played in the services or the activities.
Include at least two of your professional affiliations or your referees at the end of your resume. List their full official names, their contact address and telephone numbers, their job titles, and their affiliations. Avoid listing family or relatives as references, unless they were actual employers.
