Bring all the supplies that you might need when taking the test including pencils, erasers, rulers and a calculator -- if it is allowed -- to prevent wasting time borrowing stuff from other people. If you need reading glasses, ensure you have them on the day of the test. Carry a watch during the test, as it helps in planning the limited minutes by allocating specific time for each of the eight sections.
Arrive at the test venue on time, as this gives you ample time to choose a comfortable seat and position, if you have a choice. Choose a place with abundant lighting and keep away from places near the door or window where your attention might be easily distracted by other people entering or leaving the room during the test.
Be calm when taking the test and tackle the questions with confidence. Concentrate solely on the test and avoid distractions arising from other conflicting thoughts. Read all the questions carefully and slowly before selecting answers.
Read and listen to all the instructions given before taking the test. If you need any clarification on the instructions, raise your hand and ask for directions from the proctor. Failure to follow directions or misinterpretation might result in loss of scores. Avoid spending a lot of time on a single question; if you can’t tell the answer within seconds, attempt the next question. If you have skipped a question, leave a blank space on the answer sheet to avoid confusion. Afterwards, attempt the difficult questions you skipped in the other sections.
Ensure the number given to the question on the test booklet corresponds with the answers marked on the answer sheet. If a blank space is not left for an unanswered question in the booklet, all the answers will end up in the wrong places. If time allows, recheck all the answers and change any incorrect choice made by erasing the initial choice.
