Download iTunes from Apple.com. The software is free and hosts hundreds of podcasts that are also free to download. Make sure to download the correct version of iTunes for your operating system. Apple.com will direct you to either the Windows or Mac OS releases.
Install then run iTunes. The latest version of iTunes is made available through Apple.com, so you should not be prompted to update the software. If you do receive a message to update iTunes, do so before you start adding podcasts to your library.
Click on the iTunes Store icon in the left panel of iTunes under the STORE heading. The iTunes Store is incorporated into the software, so no additional windows will appear.
Type "spanish" into the Search field in the top-right of the iTunes window, then press Enter. ITunes will search the iTunes Store for media matching the "spanish" keyword.
Click See All in the upper-right part of the PODCASTS panel that appears in the iTunes Search Results. When you performed a search for the "spanish" keyword, iTunes brought forward everything related to "spanish" in the iTunes Store including video, audio and software. In the future, you can refine searches with "lessons," "notes" or "learning." "Spanish" was used to generate more results.
Click the icon of the podcast you want to download. ITunes offers dozens of podcasts about learning to speak Spanish. Download a few and give them a try. Learning to speak another language is difficult enough without having to deal with an irritating instructor or a low-quality podcast. For this guide, "Learn to Speak Spanish" provided by DiscoverSpanish.com is selected.
Select one of the tracks from the list at the bottom part of the window and click GET EPISODE. Each podcast in the iTunes Store has a summary page with a description of the podcast, a link to its website and a listing of available episodes of the podcast. You can also listen to a brief sample of any episode by double-clicking it from the list. The sample will play within iTunes. If you do not like what you hear, the page also has a list of recommended related podcasts.
When the podcast episode has finished downloading, click Podcasts under the LIBRARY heading in the left panel of iTunes. LIBRARY organizes everything you download from the iTunes Store in several categories. If you decide to later import media to your iTunes library, that media will also be organized under LIBRARY.
Click the podcast episode, then click the Play button in the upper-left part of iTunes to play the podcast. If you like the podcast, click the SUBSCRIBE button next to the podcast in the right-hand panel to receive a full listing of that podcast's episodes. Once you are subscribed, iTunes will automatically download the latest episode of the podcast as it is made available.
Now that you know how to download podcasts through iTunes, the rest is up to you. Learning Spanish will take time, dedication and patience. When you are finally chatting away with your friends in Spanish the rewards of your work will be evident. Que tenga suerte (good luck)!
