Foods high in carbohydrates satisfy hunger and boost energy for biking, hiking and swimming (see Resource). Bagels, homemade granola, energy bars and muffins are easy to store and convenient for breakfasts and snacks.
Fresh fruits and vegetables curb appetite and provide hydration (see Resource). Blueberries, oranges, melons and cucumbers can be stored in plastic bags and enjoyed at the beach, around the campfire or on a hike.
Foil packs offer a quick, no-mess option for camping meals. Aluminum foil packets filled with vegetables, potatoes, chicken or shrimp can be prepared in advance, stored in a cooler and grilled over a campfire.
Pudgie pies, sandwiches cooked in a pie iron over a campfire, can be stuffed with a variety of fillings. Egg, fruit filling, cheese or meat pies make fun meals and snacks.
Anything cooked on a grill at home can be cooked while camping. Steaks, fish, brats, hamburgers, corn and potatoes are camping favorites that require little preparation.
