How to Learn Hindi Phrases

Learning phrases in the Hindi language, which is written in the Devanagari script, can be done either on your own or with the help of a teacher. If you possess the self-motivation to study on your own, there are plenty of textbooks and online language learning tools that can help you to study Hindi phrases. If you'd rather take a class or hire a tutor, you will have the added benefit of a schedule and interaction with others who can answer any of your questions.

Listen to your teacher or to the recorded pronunciation of Hindi phrases on a languag-learning website. Repeat the phrases and their meanings until you are comfortable with them. If you are also working on learning to write Hindi phrases, and not just speak them, you will need to copy down the correct spelling of the words in each phrase. If you are studying in a class or with a tutor, record the teacher's pronunciations so you have them to listen to when you study.

    • 2

Make flash cards for all of the phrases you are studying. Divide the phrases according to categories to help you remember the meanings. Take the flash cards everywhere you go, and practice with them regularly. If you are learning to write the Hindi script as well, you will want to write the phrases using the Hindi script, but it will also help to write out the phonetic spelling as well.

Test yourself with the flash cards, with the help of your tutor, or with an online quiz or test.

Repeat the first three steps until you have accomplished your goal for learning Hindi phrases.
