DIY Bridal Jewelry

Making and wearing your own bridal jewelry is an excellent way to showcase your creative talents, adorn yourself beautifully and have something meaningful to pass on to younger brides in your family. Whether you're wanting a traditional string of pearls, or something bohemian and fresh, making your own bridal jewelry can be an enriching and fun endeavor.

Things You'll Need

  • Roll of nylon jewelry cord (small gauge)
  • Scissors
  • Jewelry findings
  • Assorted pearl beads
  • Hot glue gun
  • 2 Small hair comb-barrettes
  • 2 Silk flowers

Instructions

  1. Necklace

    • 1

      Snip an 18-inch length of nylon cord from the roll.

      Secure one end of the cord to a jewelry finding such as a lobster clasp.

      Slide approximately 36 medium sized pearl beads down the length of the cord. Medium sized pearls of about a half inch in diameter.

      Secure the free end of the cord around the accompanying piece to the finding you used previously.

    Jewelry Barrettes

      Snip the stem from each of the silk flowers. Depending on the theme of your wedding, the silk flower you choose is up to you. Flowers such as orchids, roses and daises are attractive and feminine.

      Squeeze a dot of hot glue to the bottom of each flower blossom.

      Adhere a blossom to the smooth face of each hair comb. Let them dry for two minutes.

      Squeeze several small dots of hot glue onto the face of each barrette, surrounding the flower blossom.

      Adhere an assortment of flat-backed pearl beads to the barrettes. Choosing a variation of sizes to create texture on the jeweled barrettes.
