Sign up for a web address. You can sign up for a free domain name through a variety of sites, or you can easily purchase a domain name for a relatively low fee (typically less than $9.99 a month).
Build a webpage design using the design tool from your domain provider. These domain providers typically have a formatting platform so that you will be able to customize your site for your needs. This will include providing students the opportunity to reply to posts (such as a blog or comments section), allow you to post new items at your leisure, and allow you to control the content that is posted on the page.
Post items on your page using the page template creator. The items posted on your site should be geared toward the topics discussed and researched in class. For instance, if you teach history, you can post discussion questions on a daily or weekly basis that requires students to log on to answer on the site, or in class.
Regularly post material on the site that will later be on quizzes or exams, requiring students to log on. For instance, if teaching a science course, you can post a piece of science trivia on the site each week. Then, when you give a weekly quiz or in-class assignment, students will have to answer what the posted trivia was on the site as an answer to a question on a test or quiz.
Log on regularly to maintain the content on your site. You will be able to delete any posts that are not appropriate, unnecessary or simply outdated.
