Mercury Outboard Specs

Mercury has introduced many lines and models of outboard motors to the public over the past several decades. The "Bigfoot" and "Verado" lines of outboard motors have been in production for several years.
  1. Engine

    • Mercury outboard motors are available offering a number of different features. Consumers have access to two-stroke or four-stroke engines that feature anywhere from one to six cylinders. Bigfoot models for 2010 are built with four-stroke engines that offer two or four cylinders. Verado models are four-stroke engines that offer four or six cylinders.

    Output

    • Mercury has introduced models over the years that offer anywhere between 3 and 300 horsepower. Bigfoot models for 2010 are available with outputs between 9.9 and 60 horsepower. Verado models for 2010 offer between 150 and 300 horsepower.

    Spline Count

    • The teeth on a drive shaft match the teeth on an outboard's propeller hub. These teeth are designed to prevent slipping. The amount of teeth offered by an outboard motor is its "spline count." The 2010 Bigfoot line of motors feature a 14 or 15 spline count, depending on the model. The 2010 Verado outboards all have a spline count of 15.
