The teeth on a drive shaft match the teeth on an outboard's propeller hub. These teeth are designed to prevent slipping. The amount of teeth offered by an outboard motor is its "spline count." The 2010 Bigfoot line of motors feature a 14 or 15 spline count, depending on the model. The 2010 Verado outboards all have a spline count of 15.
