Find a website that teaches Italian and has a wide selection of phrases for you to learn. Save the site as a favorite, as you will have to return to it frequently.
A well-presented site for learning languages is the free BBC site (see Resources). The site is clearly divided into themed sections, so you can practice the phrases according to your needs, for example; "Accommodation". There are lots of other suitable sites, so choose the one you like best-- Iluss offers a more grammar-based approach.
Download the phrases and save them onto your Mp3 player or computer, so you can practice as much and as frequently as possible. Download them in their themed groups to avoid confusion and help link vocabulary.
Listen to your chosen phrases and repeat them whenever convenient. This may be in the privacy of your own home or on the train to work. Do not worry about sounding strange in public places--repeat in your head or just mouth the words. Use any available time to practice as it is something that can easily fit around other activities.
Focus your learning. Learn phrases that are going to be useful for you. Learn more specific phrases when you feel you have mastered the basics--for example, if you are going on a kite-surfing holiday, learn the relevant vocabulary.
Repeat the previous process. Find, download, repeat, repeat again. You cannot practice enough. You can also record yourself speaking, then listen to yourself, spotting any mistakes or areas for improvement.
