How to Learn English on a CD From Arabic or French

Many language-learning companies advertise that their language lessons on CD will help a person learn the language fast and without a class, but without a proper routine most people will not benefit from the CDs. Arabic and French-speaking students learning English from a CD will benefit from hearing the proper pronunciation and accents. However, the student will only be learning how to converse in English as there is no written component. Students who wish to learn spoken and written English will need to combine their CD lessons with a book or other resources.

Instructions

    • 1

Learn the English alphabet before starting the CD. Visualize the audio in order to learn the language. This is especially important for Arabic-speaking students because they will have to visualize a Latin alphabet that is vastly different from the Arabic alphabet.

    • 2

Set aside several hours a day to work on the CD lessons.

    • 3

Complete the audio exercises aloud. Pay attention to the proper pronunciation of English, which is much different from Arabic and French. Complete the audio exercises in an environment where you feel comfortable practicing pronunciation aloud.

    • 4

Write down the audio heard on the CD. Do not worry about perfecting spelling at first. However, you need to recognize the letters being spoken in order to learn the relationships between words and word parts.

    • 5

Record yourself repeating the CD lessons. Check your pronunciation against the CD to recognize any pronunciation mistakes.
