There are a number of videos that provide explanations of grammar and a section that provides downloadable holiday sheet guides. A weekly email that provides Spanish language tips is also available. Busuu allows you to connect with people in a language learning exchange. This site is particularly beneficial once the user is at a basic level and can have a simple conversation. The website also offers vocabulary and writing exercises and allows members to interact with each other through discussion groups. Free registration is required. See Resource 2.
Online Free Spanish provides a range of interactive material designed for beginner learners, and is especially suitable for children. Materials include games in which the user has to click pictures that relate to corresponding words or phrases. The site also has a number of printable resources which can aid in the learning process, as well as songs for listening. See Resource 3.
Europa Pages provides beginners with introductory grammar and vocabulary that may be useful for small conversations when traveling. Users can learn about the pronunciation of letters in the Spanish alphabet, find out how to tell the time, ask for directions, order food at a restaurant and describe the weather. The site is not interactive, as it presents information in text format. See Resource 4.
Wordreference is an extensive online dictionary that allows users to translate words into English, French or Portuguese. Synonyms and antonyms are also provided, as well as a detailed conjugation table for each verb translated. The site has a number of forums covering various subject areas, which allow users to post and answer questions on language usage. See Resource 5.
