The A-32 tip is designed for an air-acetylene mixture only. Do not attempt to use oxygen-acetylene or propane gas with the A-32 tip. Doing so violates standard safety protocol for flammable gases. If you wish to use other gases, use a different torch and tip designed specifically for the gas you use.
The A-32 tip is designed for use on pipes four to six inches in diameter for soft soldering. For silver brazing, the tip capacity is for pipes 1 1/2 to four inches in diameter. If you have to work with larger pipes, use an "old-timer" plumbing trick: Two plumbers heat the pipe up with two torches, one on either side of the pipe. The pipe heats up faster and hotter with two torches, so the soldering or brazing operation will be effective.
Thermadyne recommends the gas flow through the tip to be 33.2 standard cubic feet per hour (SCFH). This is for a gas pressure of 14 pounds per square inch (PSI). If the flame is too big for your application at 33.2 SCFH, the A-32 tip is the wrong tip to use. You will have to use a smaller tip for the correct flame size.
