Joint Knowledge Online Learning

The term "Joint knowledge Online Learning" can be interpreted to mean mutli-campus online training programs, online learning of two concepts simultaneously, a combination of both online and face-to-face learning modes often referred to as blended learning environments, or the joint knowledge online learning initiative set up by military forces for members' initial preparation before starting substantial residential training programs.
  1. Joint Knowledge Online Learning Initiative

    • The military forces have established online distance learning programs with online resources and training options for members of the military forces and associates from government agencies, non-government organizations and foreign military services. These online training programs provide introductory preparation for local and international operations intended for soldiers, marines, airmen and others who work with them.

Online courses are provided for these personnel to pursue while still with their families and/or completing office responsibilities prior to deployment for full residential training programs. Online classes can be accessed from anywhere and at any time, and include interactive courseware, joint task force textbooks, training videos and links to relevant online resources. Training continues on-ground after joint online courses are completed. Information on a large number of topics can also be accessed online at any time and discussed with experts in online communication formats.

    Multi-Purpose Joint Online Learning

    • Joint online learning describes the learning of dual concepts at the same time. Language instructors use this model of teaching words within phrases to show the meanings of words in different contexts and sentence structure. In joint knowledge online learning, mathematical concepts such as algebra and geometry may be taught within the same online course.

    Multi-Campus Joint Knowledge Learning

    • Training programs created and offered online by one campus or educational institution for students of another institution or campus are sometimes referred to as joint knowledge online learning. Joint knowledge online learning may also be offered by one discipline or department to benefit other disciplines and departments of the same institution, such as the education department offering joint knowledge online learning programs for students of the science and arts departments.

    Blended Learning

    • Combining online discussion forums, digital learning resources and computer-mediated instruction with face-to-face classroom instruction in joint knowledge online learning courses is also referred to as blended learning. Joint knowledge online learning can also refer to a combination of virtual media. These include synchronous online modes or learning environments where the instructors and students are communicating in real time (example: live video streaming); and asynchronous online modes or learning environments that can be accessed at any time and from anywhere (examples: email; student-to-student and instructor-to-student discussion forums of different Learning Management Systems).

    General Attributes

    • Joint knowledge online learning programs are generally learner controlled, offer a collaborative online learning experience, a virtual sharing of expert advice and knowledge bases and a variety of digital resources across disciplines. Joint knowledge is developed in an accredited online learning environment. Online features include instant messaging, file storage, email, chat rooms, news feeds, discussion forums and personal workspace.
