A sense of community develops when adult learners work and learn together, particularly when peers can collaborate on ideas. This proves to lead to greater motivation to learn more.
Once learners become motivated, a sense of accomplishment develops as a result of getting things done. Executing individual and collaborative responsibilities, completing tasks and seeing the end-results of their effort all lead to an increased sense of accomplishment.
Motivation and a sense of accomplishment results in greater confidence--as long as success is realized. It is important that learners experience success, because success leads to greater confidence and competence.
As learners experience success and increased confidence, autonomy develops. Learners realize they are able to do more, and better, on their own, thus becoming better positioned to take risks and increase individual capacity for more success.
When learners realize they can be successful and experience gratification as a result of their own efforts, recognition of self and one's capabilities increases. Self-recognition is an important attribute for lifelong happiness and success.
