Courses in Air Conditioning

Students interested in the air conditioning field may start to recognize a familiar acronym: HVAC, which stands for heating, ventilation and air conditioning (and sometimes also refrigeration). Air conditioning courses are often a large component of an HVAC program. The fields are taught together to prepare professionals to address many maintenance situations in both the residential and commercial fields. Air conditioning courses are available through single topic programs, certificate programs and even associate degrees.
  1. The Refrigeration School, Inc.

    • The refrigeration school trains students on residential air conditioning, mechanical principles, refrigeration techniques, advanced air conditioning, electrical principles and troubleshooting along with 21,000 square feet of hands-on materials, laboratory and support service. Students may choose air conditioning courses a la carte (each course provides a certificate of completion) or study for the school's associate of occupational studies in mechanical maintenance engineering degree, which takes about 14 months during the day or 20 months during the evening. Graduates receive placement assistance.

The Refrigeration School accepts students without a high school diploma or GED, but requires a skills test and evaluation.
