The Project Management Institute administers the project management professional (PMP) exam as a service to those with experience in project management who desire a credential demonstrating their talents are certified by a credible authority. The credential helps employers recognize potential employees with proven project management skills. The requirements to take the exam are a bachelor's degree with at least three years' (4,500 hours) experience in project management or a high school diploma with five years' (7,500 hours) experience in project management.
The Project Management Institute has an Atlanta chapter which is the hub for information about the PMP exam and credential for Georgia residents. The chapter hosts a variety of PMP exam training courses throughout the year. These courses can be registered for on the chapter website.
The Georgia Institute of Technology offers the PMP course to students and non-students. The course costs $835 (as of 2010) and focuses on the "Project Management Body of Knowledge Guide" for instruction.
