How long to get residency in California?

The residency requirements for California are:

- You must have lived in California for at least 18 months prior to applying for residency.

- You must have filed your California state income tax return for the prior year.

- You must have a valid California driver's license or identification card.

- You must be over 18 years old and a citizen or permanent resident of the United States.

Additional documentation may be required, such as proof of income or a lease agreement.

Once you have met all of the requirements, you can apply for residency through the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or the California Franchise Tax Board (FTB). The process usually takes about 4 to 6 weeks.

If you are approved for residency, you will be issued a California driver's license or identification card with a "Resident" designation. This will allow you to receive in-state tuition at California colleges and universities, and to apply for certain state benefits.
