What is in Italian?
Italian, also called the Italian language (lingua italiana), a Romance language spoken primarily by the population of Italy, Switzerland (Ticino and Graubünden), San Marino, Vatican City, and by large Italian communities in the Americas and Europe. It is one of the most widely spoken languages in the European Union, with the largest number of native speakers. Standard Italian is based on the Tuscan dialect, which developed in the late 13th and 14th centuries.
