#1.Biological Perspective:
Sleep specialists tend to recommend that kids between 6–13 years old get 9–11 hours of sleep each night, while teens between the ages of 14–17 should get around 8–10 hours of sleep each night. Since most schools start between 7 am-8 am, the bedtime for elementary kids to get the appropriate sleep should be between 7 pm to 9 pm. Teenagers should go to bed between 9 pm to 10 pm.
#2. Practical/ Social Perspective:
It also depends on your child’s schedule, so you may need to adjust the time they should go to bed to accommodate early morning commitments such as sports practice or a part-time job. It's also important to think about your child’s after-school activities and the time it takes for them to get ready for bed. With this in mind, most families find that they can get their younger kids to bed around 8:30 pm, while teenagers tend to head to bed closer to 10:30 pm or even 11:00 pm.
