Develop the main points. Though how long you have for the speech is a factor, have at least four or five main points that are relevant and important to your audience.
Determine the sub-points you want to discuss. It is a good idea to have at lease three sub-points to bring up during your speech.
Put the main points in order by importance. After you know what your main points are, put them in an order that you feel leads up to the most important point. The idea is to build the importance of the topic and interest of the audience.
Create transitions that will easily move from one topic to the next. It's always awkward and confusing when you don't make an effort to relate what you were talking about before with what you want to talk about next.
Have supporting information for each of your points. This will be the research that you've done. If you are using visuals to help you with your speech, remember to cite where the information came from.
