Establish personal and professional goals. You should decide prior to attending school, exactly what you want to receive a degree in and how far you intend to go in a designated field.
Select an educational institution in which you will learn your selected trade. You may have been a die-hard supporter for a particular school all your life and your dreams revolved around matriculating there. However, you must enroll in a school that offers the discipline you have chosen.
Dig into your studies. You may be like millions of other students who never had to study in high school, but college is completely different. You should budget your time based on how hard your classes are. This way you spend ample time studying what you are having the most problems with.
Attend classes regularly. Consider school your job. Poor attendance at school will reflect your attitude and work ethic.
Participate in extracurricular activities. Get involved in intramural or varsity sports, student government, Greek organizations or other clubs. Not only will you meet new friends and stay active, but you will also enhance your social and professional skills.
Stay determined and keep your eyes on the prize. There will be times you want to give up. However, you must press forward and tomorrow you will be even closer to finishing.
