Was the material easy to follow, logical and easily ordered? Are the subheads relevant to the text? Was there anything missing from the basic sections, or was the information adequate? Does the flow of the paper become hard to read? How could the flow of the article be improved?
Is there any incorrect formatting, and did the writer cite her sources appropriately? Are there any discrepancies with the citations, and are they all listed in the works cited or references section at the end?
Does the introduction fit the overall paper? Could there be an alternative way to begin the essay, and is there any other information that should be included in the introduction? Did the writer clearly express the major claim or thesis of the paper? What exactly is that claim or thesis?
Outline the main points of each paragraph. Are they clear and given full evidence to support each point? How is the evidence linked to the main point and the overall theme and thesis of the paper? Is there any information that can be left out, is unnecessary or inconclusive to the overall theme of the paper and main points?
Is it clear in the conclusion what the reader should have learned by reading the paper? Note your new understanding of the initial thesis or claim after reading the entire article. Has this understanding been adequately studied and expressed? Is there an alternative conclusion or any information that is lacking?
Is there anything confusing in the paper? Is the paper titled correctly? Does the title express the paper's theme, thesis and content? Did the writer contribute his own thoughts to the paper?
