Hybrid learning is available to students studying to be physical therapist assistants (PTAs). General education coursework including basic sciences, math and psychology can be completed online through distance learning. Courses that instruct students in clinical skills require on-site training. PTA students must also complete clinical affiliations in specific medical settings to meet the criteria for degree completion.
Licensed practical nurse (LPN) degree programs also offer hybrid learning. Similar to hybrid PTA programs, basic sciences and other general education coursework is available through distance learning. Advanced science courses with lab requirements necessitate on-site learning. Clinical affiliations are also required for completion of a LPN degree.
There are several things to consider before you enroll in a hybrid training program. Distance learning, although flexible, requires planning, good time management skills and discipline to complete required coursework. Distance learning uses reading as the primary mode of instruction while on-site classroom education may be better for students better suited to auditory instruction.
