Colleges for Radiologic Technology

If you are interested in schools offering a major in radiologic technology, you have many choices. Two- and four-year programs are available in colleges, trade schools, medical centers and universities across the country. These schools offer training and education in diagnostic x-ray equipment management, operation and safety as well as preparation for national certification testing needed to work in the field of radiologic technology.
  1. St. John Hospital and Medical Center School of Radiologic Technology

    • Located in Detroit, the St. John Hospital and Medical Center School of Radiologic Technology offers students a two-year certification program. Once completed, students will have an opportunity to sit for the national certification exam. Through coursework, students learn principles of anatomy, digital imaging and display, medical ethics and customer relations, principles of radiation and radiology, including protection and procedures, and techniques for patient care. Students will also serve a rotation in the hospital’s radiology department.

    Lanier Technical College

    • Lanier Technical College, located in Oakwood, Georgia, and serving counties in the state including North Fulton and Jackson counties, offers students an associate of applied science degree in radiologic technology. Courses provide students with the academic, professional and technical information they need to succeed in the field, and will allow them to take the national certification test. Students will learn techniques for radiologic imaging and will also gain an understanding of the professional procedures and protocols expected in a radiology department.

    Columbia St. Mary's School of Radiologic Technology

    • Located in Milwaukee, the Columbia St. Mary’s School of Radiologic Technology has a long history of providing students with the education and training they need for success. This 24-month program offers students instruction in radiographic procedures, anatomy, radiologic physics, pathology and radiation biology. Students will also need to complete clinical work. Upon graduation, students will be eligible to sit for the national certification exam. The Columbia St. Mary’s School of Radiologic Technology is also affiliated with several local colleges including Carroll University, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Marian University.
