This might include which subjects to study, or local tutors who can better your chances at doing well on this particular test. Ask questions about the ratio of questions on the test. For example, if the test is 30 percent algebra, but 70 percent geometry, you will want to practice geometry questions the most.
Find a test preparation book for your grade level. If you are a freshman in junior college, you should be on the lookout for a test preparation book aimed at the highest level of high school coursework. These books feature practice questions modeled after previous placement tests.
Focus on core subjects, such as algebra, geometry, pre-calculus and calculus. Again, test preparation books or websites on these specific subjects can refresh your memory or refine skills. Along with these subjects, refresh yourself on the basics such as order of operations, using a calculator, measuring, unit conversions and simplifying. These fundamental skills can often determine how well you do.
Practice for as long as possible, leading up to the test. Give yourself at least a week to plan for the test, if not longer. Do not try to cram too much studying in the night before. Keep solving problems until you are familiar with how they are completed. Keep note of areas where you are struggling, so you can be sure to train accordingly.
