How to End an Essay Paper

After writing a long essay, it can sometimes be hard to know how to properly wrap it up. You want to stress your point without repeating yourself. Instead of just writing fluff to quickly end the essay, take the opportunity to justify the other paragraphs within the paper. The conclusion should be memorable so your work doesn't end on a low point.

Instructions

    • 1

Re-emphasize your thesis. Do not word it in the exact same way, but remind readers what specific point you were trying to make in your paper

    • 2

Explain why you chose the points you did to support your thesis. Explain how they tie together, and why all the points together prove your thesis.

    • 3

Work from the specific to the general in your conclusion. After explaining why your thesis is supported, tell the reader what that means for "the bigger picture."

    • 4

Pose questions in the conclusion that will help the reader to apply your thesis/supporting points to their life.
