Graduate Degrees in Applied Behavior Analysis

The Behavior Analyst Certification Board is responsible for certification of applied behavior analysts. A student pursuing certification in ABA is required to complete an approved university training program and pass a certification exam. Certification and graduate degrees are available in ABA.
  1. Approved University Programs

    • Without BACB approval of the ABA program, certification may be denied.

Graduate students seeking a masters or doctoral degree in ABA must make sure that the program of study is approved by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB). A list of approved university training programs is available from the BACB website. Approved university programs are BACB preapproved to meet coursework and experience eligibility requirements.

    Campus Programs

    • There are both online and on-campus graduate ABA programs. For example, the Chicago School of Professional Psychology offers an on-campus program in Chicago for a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology, specializing in Applied Behavior Analysis. A PsyD. in ABA is also available on campus.

    Distance Learning Programs

    • An online Master of Science degree ABA program is available from Saint Cloud State University through curriculum from the Association for Behavior Analysis International, whose coursework is approved by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board.
