Perhaps the leading publication of peer-reviewed articles in the field of victimology is the "International Review of Victimology." Published by A B Academic Publishers in the U.K., the quarterly journal covers all topics pertaining to the study of victims. The journal identifies topics ranging from victim-criminal relationship, victim compensation and the philosophy of victimology. These issues give rise to more general considerations such as "political and human rights issues, including victims of war crimes."
The Tokiwa International Victimology Institute (TIVI) was established in 2003 at Tokiwa University in Mito, Japan, and it conducts research and teaching in the field of victimology. They accept and peer-review articles pertaining to the field. Their "International Perspectives in Victimology" journal is a renowned source of academic material advancing the study and assistance of victims. The journal is published biannually and covers such topics as "abuse of power ... domestic violence, child abuse, bullying, disasters and war; victim services; victimological theories; victim rights; victim compensation and restitution; restorative justice; and new conceptual development and research." In April 2010, Tokiwa University and California State University-Fresno agreed to publish it as an electronic journal.
The Australasian Society of Victimology began in 1998. It is formally listed with the United Nations as a non-governmental organization (NGO). They do not receive regular governmental funding. The ASV distributes its own peer-reviewed journal of academic material and studies. First published in 1990, "The Journal of the Australasian Society of Victimology" publishes articles pertaining to the general field of victimology and crime prevention. This irregularly published journal has peer-reviewed articles on myriad topics concerning victims, such as compensation, victimological paradigms and prevention methods.
