About Kleeneze

Kleeneze is a UK company started n 1923 by Harry Crook. He created hand-made in-wire brushes in his shop in Bristol. Five years later, the demand for these brushes was so high that he had opened 200 branches of his shop around the UK. Kleeneze expanded the range of products to include polishes and beauty items by 1960. In that decade, Kleeneze first started to employ home agents.
  1. Home Agents

    • Kleeneze agents ran their own business from home, selling the products to friends and family and by word-of-mouth. Their businesses did well and Kleeneze's turnover increased. This was an ideal job for women with children at school or nursery.

    Expanding Businesses

    • In the 1980s, the home-shopping industry grew considerably and Kleeneze agents went door-to-door with their catalogs, popping them through doors with a note giving the date they would collect the catalog -- hopefully with an order included. They were also encouraged to employ their own agents and thus increase their profits. During this time, Kleeneze added aerosols and car-care products to their range, becoming the first home-shopping company to do this.

    Moving into Europe

    • By 1994, Kleeneze had expanded the business into the Republic of Ireland. During the years between 2002 and 2006, the company grew even more and became true Europeans by expanding into Holland and Germany.

    Merging

    • Being such a successful business, other companies were eager to have a piece of the financial pie, and in 2006 Kleeneze joined Findel plc -- a leading direct-shopping retailer specializing in home shopping, educational supplies and health care equipment -- and moved offices, improving its logistics and services. Being part of such a large company gave Kleeneze the advantage of financial support and marketing assistance.
