Coursework includes keyboarding, microcomputer applications, human biology, medical terminology and medical forms and billing. This is a 30-credit program, and you must maintain a 2.0 grade point average to graduate from the program. You must take part in two internships, one paid and one unpaid.

    Associate in Medical Office Assisting

    • The Breyer State University offers an online associate degree program in medical office assisting. You do, however, receive mentoring from a faculty member. You only take core courses in this program, meaning that all courses go towards your major. Coursework includes business communication, physiology fundamentals, insurance coding and billing, medical terminology, computer basic and patient assistance. You must complete an internship along with your coursework, which allows you to practice your skills in a real-world setting. Use this degree for a career as a medical receptionist, clinic clerk, medical assistant, claims processor or administrative assistant.

    Associate of Occupational Science in Medical Office Assisting

    • The Midwest Institute offers an associate of occupational science degree in medical office assisting. This program focuses on both administrative and clinical practices. You also learn how to work in both the front and back of a medical office. This school has two campuses in St. Louis, Missouri, and this program is offered at both campuses. This program prepares you for working as a medical office assistant or as an office manager.

    Associate in Specialized Business

    • The Berks Technical Institute offers an associate in specialized business degree. You can complete this program in 21 months for the day program or in 24 months for the evening program. This course prepares you for an entry-level position in different professions, including medical assisting, home health, medical records and medical transcription.
