Research the area of study. Before deciding on a college or department, research the discipline you would like to study. Since different colleges offer a variety of different courses, conduct a careful study of those that you are interested in.
Review and pick colleges. Once your research is complete, review the colleges that offer the courses you are interested in. Chances are, there will be many colleges offering the same courses and all colleges may be equally reputable. Therefore, apply to all the best colleges that suit your option of study.
Complete your statement of purpose (SOP). As the most important factor that will determine your admission, an SOP is the essay you write that helps distinguish you from the other candidates as most eligible to procure admission in the college. The SOP must reflect your personality, learning, passion and suitability for the field you are applying for.
Apply to the colleges. Application can be made through online application or downloading the application form and sending the completed form to the preferred college. All applications must contain the completed application form, transcripts, English language certificates (like the TOEFL for international students) and your SOP. All applications must be sent to the admissions office of the universities or colleges in question. Some universities request a non-refundable application fee that must be paid at the time of application.
Register for classes. Upon admission into the course, register for all the classes you require, including electives. Some courses require prerequisite courses to be taken by the student, therefore enroll in the right sequence.
Complete the curriculum offered. This requires completion of all tests, assignments and additional requirements, such as any internships or minimum GPA requirements.
