The National Board Dental Examination, or NBDE, is given to all dental school graduates seeking their dental licenses from the American Dental Association. Should you fail Part I of the NBDE during your initial examination, you are eligible to retake the exam. However, the ADA does not permit you to retake the exam for at least 90 days after the date you took the exam initially. Registration for the NBDE is done through the Prometric Contact Center for all exams; your retake-eligibility information is not provided to the Prometri Contact Center until 85 days have passed since your initial exam, which means you must wait at least 85 days to schedule a retake. To pass the exam the second time around you should spend those 90 days studying the information you learned in dental school and by reviewing released editions of the NBDE.
