Write a study schedule. Managing to set aside specific times to study and work on online classes is essential to online learning skills. To get into a habit, write a daily schedule and stick to the schedule until it's been at least one month. After a month, habits form so it will become a routine.
Join online discussions. When discussions between other students are available online through the class, taking advantage of the discussion can improve study skills. By talking about the subject, it is easier to understand and help is available for those that are struggling with a concept. This also gives access to other students that are taking the same course and can help by discussing the topic individually.
Apply the knowledge gained in classes. When something is applied, it is repeated mentally and is easier to remember later. Application can come in many forms, from talking to others about the subject to using concepts learned in class in daily life. The application will differ, depending on the class.
Ask questions. Asking the teacher, peers or even just jotting down questions to look up later increases comprehension of the subject and result in greater knowledge of it.
Set specific goals. Motivation is important to online learning skills because once motivation is gone it can be hard to complete the online class. By setting goals, such as getting a specific grade or graduating college, motivation is easier to maintain.
