Find a massage therapy school. Some schools offer online options for massage therapy. Make sure the school covers the basics of kinesiology, anatomy and massage techniques. Also make sure the school prepares you for the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. This test covers many body mechanics, and you want to make sure that your program prepares you for the test.
Get hands-on training. Many massage therapy schools offer online courses. However, all of them still require on-the-job training. To get your online degree, log practice hours with the local massage school. The amount of hours will vary depending on the school you attend.
Take the certification. Each state varies in what it requires for testing scores. Check your state’s website for what is required. Study for the certification using schooling books, but also establishing study groups. Online courses have forums in which you can connect with your classmates. Form a study group with those students when it is time to take the course.
Network with massage clients. While you are completing your schooling, network with all clients that you are massaging. Let them know when you will be completing school and give them your card. Also, network with any potential employers while you are getting your practice hours completed.
