How many African Americans have masters degrees?

As of 2019, approximately 1.4 million African Americans in the United States held a master's degree or higher. This represents a significant increase from previous decades, as the number of African Americans with master's degrees has more than doubled since 1990. However, African Americans still make up a relatively small proportion of the total population with a master's degree, at around 9%.
