      Buy the hesi book and start studying on time
      If you want to pass the HESI the first time you take it, then you need to start studying early, way early to get the knowledge that you need to pass the exam.The HESI book is part of your blueprint to HESI success.

      Secondly know the areas you will be tested on

      You will be tested on Fundamentals of nursing, adult health nursing, professional issues,maternity nursing, pediatric nursing, mental health nursing, pharmacology and mental health nursing.

      Know what specific topics you need to study

      Under each of the areas you will be tested on, there are specific areas you will need to focus on. If you have the hesi book and have taken the comprehensive test on the cd, look on the back of your score sheet, you will see the specific areas you were tested on. For example under fundamentals you have medication administration, math,nutrition etc. Focus on those chapters in your fundamentals book.

      Learn your basic concepts thoroughly

      Knowing your basic nursing sciences as well as you can is important because you will probably get those text book type questions that you will really need to know to get the easy questions right. Questions like what do you do when a person is having a seizure? Maintain safety. That is something basic that every student nurse should know.

      Know complications and their interventions

      Its good to know what complications could occur during procedures, as a result of a disease condition, a drain or tube or any nursing or medical activity on a patient and the proper intervention for that complication. This is being a safe nurse and you will most certainly be tested on safety.

      KNow a lot of disease proccesses

      You cannot know everything but if you can know the definition atleast of all the diseases in your book. If you have an idea of what a disease is, you can figure out what answer to pick.

      Know that easy questions are just that... easy

      You know how you get a question that is soooo easy you start thinking, there must be some hidden agenda here, this question cant be so easy , they are trying to trick me. Well, dont think like that believe me, if the question looks easy to you, it means you know your knowledge and that question is really easy so just pick the answer you know fits the question and move on to the next question

      Know what to do when you are unsure of your answer

      You know once you click on an answer, you cannot go back to it to make a change or anything like that. SO here is a tip if you clikc on an answer and it suddenly hits you that this is not the right answer, this is what you should do: dont take your finger off the mouse button . In other words, hold down the button and move away from the submit button, when you lift up your finger, you will still be on that page. This way you can change the answer to the one you are absolutely sure is the right answer.

      Always go with your gut and common sense

      If you see an answer and everything in you screams; that is the answer then it may be the answer. Your subconsciuos may be remembering something that you cant fully remember. IF you dont know what answer to pick, pick the odd one out. Sometimes , something that looks stupid to you is the answer, so if its the odd one out, pick it.

      What if you dont pass the first time?

      Do your remediation on your weak points at the evolve website and prepare for the next one by studying some more and especially those subjects that you know you are not strong at.If you didnt get them on the first test, you may get them on the next.
