Read through each chapter of your medical text book, or of a basic book on medical terminology. Highlight any words that you do not know.
Copy highlighted words and their definitions into a notebook. Write each word and definition at least two times.
Gather other medical terminology from posters, body books or assignment sheets. Copy those terms and their definitions into your notebook as well.
Create flashcards for each of the terms you would like to learn. Write the term on one side of the card and a definition on the other.
Study the flashcards in two different ways. Look at the term first, and try to repeat the definition. Check to see if you are right. Then look at the definitions first and attempt to decide which term they refer to. Check to see if you are right.
Choose two words each day to work into a conversation. Think about those words and their meanings during the day and attempt to use them during a normal conversation with someone else. As soon as you have used them, make a check mark next to them on your list. Move on to different words each day.
Have a friend test you on the terms that you have been using. Your friend should repeat the terms, and you should give a definition.
Take a practice terminology test on your textbook's website or one that you find online. Test yourself once every two weeks as you continue to study your terminology.
