Make an appointment with your prehealth advisor. After talking with your advisor, he should give you a good idea of what you need to be accomplished -- prerequisite courses for medical school, letters of recommendation and doctor shadowing -- in order to apply to medical school.
Begin preparing for the MCAT and take the test as early as possible. Visit the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) website to search for available test dates. You want to take the MCAT during your junior year if possible, or early during your senior year in order to receive your desired score and begin applying to medical school.
Find the medical school programs that are a right fit for you. Not all medical schools are the same, so make sure you do diligent research when searching for schools that fit the required criteria you want in a medical school. Location, cost and coursework are factors to consider.
Complete all the required premedical coursework as well as your degree requirements. Before enrolling into medical school, you need to ensure completion of your core premedical requirements. These are biology, chemistry, organic chemistry, physics, English and calculus.
Apply to medical school. In order to apply to medical school, you need to register through the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS). After completion of the AMCAS application, you will be one step closer to becoming a doctor.
