Schedule an appointment to consult with your dean or your school representative. This individual will be able to guide you into the correct direction as to actions you can take to help you improve your COMLEX PE score. School representatives cannot tell you what exact questions or skill demonstrations will be on the exam, but will be able to give you guidance to help you improve.
Obtain reference materials suggested by your school representative. Organize and log each one. Study the reference materials, tabbing them for easy reference and to save time. Schedule activities with the school or faculty, including obtaining materials corresponding to those activities, including direct observation of clinical clerkships, real or standardized patient videos, or hands-on guided practice for defined skills, as suggested by the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners online.
Formulate a remediation plan with your school representative. Having a plan in place will help you remain in control of your time and help you remain on task, which will help you improve your overall score. Schedule your time on a calendar. Stick to it. Schedule reference time, family time and personal meditation time. Incorporating relaxation techniques into your daily routine will help your clarity and focus and help your chances to improve during the COMLEX.
Familiarize yourself with the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners Bulletin of Information and Orientation Guide. The bulletin informs you of the policies and conduct behavior expected during the COMLEX-USA exam and for your career following the exam. Many policies may not be known to you. Knowing the conduct and policies in advance can help you avoid disqualifying yourself due to a policy infraction.
