How long does an osteopathic physician go to school?

Becoming a fully licensed osteopathic physician (DO) takes approximately 12 years after high school. This includes:

* 4 years: Undergraduate education (Bachelor's degree)

* 4 years: Medical school (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine - D.O. degree)

* 3-7 years: Residency training (depending on the specialty)

Some DOs may choose fellowships after residency, adding more time to their education.
